University libre de Bruxelles Delegation Visited School of Government

 

On November 1st, 2012, Universit¨¦ libre de Bruxelles Delegation visited School of Government of Peking University. Led by Dr. Serge Jaumain, the Vice-Rector for International Relations of ULB, the delegation also includes Professor Jean-Michel DE WAELE, the Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, ULB and the academic officer for relations with Chinese universities, Ms. Isabelle MESTDAGH, the International Relations Officer of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, ULB, and Ms. Aur¨¦lie Manneback, the program charger from the Embassy of Belgium in China. Professor ZHU Tianbiao, the Associate Dean of School of Government, Professor YAN Jirong, the Director of Department of Political Sciences of School of Government , and YANG Nan, the International Program Coordinator attended the meeting and talked about the cooperation between two sides.

In the meeting, Dr. Serge Jaumain, the Vice-Rector for International Relations of ULB, presented that it¡¯s their pleasure to cooperate with School of Government of Peking University, and hope the cooperation can be promoted step by step from student exchanges. As the Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, ULB, Professor Jean-Michel DE WAELE made detailed suggestions on cooperation. Except from establishing double-degree master program, he suggested that PhD students in both sides can co-organize some seminars and hoped that there can be double-degree PhD programs run by two sides in the future. The members of delegation acquired detailed information on English-taught programs in School of Government, especially on Master Program of Public Policy, so as to design the cooperation and exchange between two sides in the similar model.

Professor ZHU Tianbiao firstly extended a warm welcome to the delegation on behalf of School of Government. Then, together with Professor YAN Jirong, Professor ZHU introduced the development of disciplines and international exchanges in School of Government in details. Professor ZHU expressed his great supports on double-degree PhD program, and hoped there will be PhD workshops in the recent future. Besides, Professor YAN suggested that both institutes can organize the international academic conference together, and invited faculty members of ULB to give lecture or courses in School of Government, Peking University.
